11:00 AM Procession of the Palms (Begin at the Outdoor Chapel)

April 7 (Tuesday) Holy Week 6:00 PM Tenebrae Service

The word ‘tenebrae’ is Latin for shadows. The purpose of the Tenebrae service is to recreate the emotional aspects of the passion story, so this is not supposed to be a happy service.  It is a service of light and darkness. The purpose of the service is to recreate the betrayal, abandonment, and agony of the events, and it is left unfinished, because the story isn’t over until Easter Day.

April 8 (Wednesday) Holy Week 6:00 PM Seder Supper (Reservations Necessary; call 693-9591)

Have you ever wondered what kind of meal Christ shared with his Apostles at the Last Supper? The Seder meal is the joyful family dinner and worship service which is held in Jewish homes on Passover. Seder means order. The Seder consists of a number of ceremonies of extreme antiquity. Through these ceremonies and symbols, we can feel the trials of the Jews of the Exodus - their embittered life of bondage and the joy of their subsequent triumph of freedom.

April 9 (Thursday) 6:00 PM Holy Eucharist, Foot Washing
Maundy Thursday   Stripping of the Altar
    Vigil until 6:00 AM

April 10 (Friday) Good Friday 12:10 PM Passion Narrative

The Passion Narrative
is the traditional service for Good Friday with the congregational reading of the passion Gospel.

6:00 PM Stations of the Cross

The Stations of the Cross
has two related meanings. In one sense, the Stations of the Cross refers to the liturgical practice of using various events in the final hours of Jesus’ life as a structure for prayer and meditation (also called the Way of the Cross). These events encompass Jesus’ journey carrying his cross from the Hall of Pilate where he was condemned to death to the site of his execution on Golgotha (Calvary). This is(hopefully) an outdoor event at Good Samaritan where participants can literally help carry a large cross from station to station along a pathway as we walk the “way of the cross” with Jesus. It is an easy walk starting in the indoor chapel and winding around the church and through the memorial garden before ending up back at the main altar.

April 12 EASTER DAY 8:30 AM Holy Eucharist
  9:45 AM Easter Brunch
  11:00 AM Festival Holy Eucharist
